Our Trip!
For 12 years of our lives, we get up and go to school. We sit in a classroom
and we learn from textbooks and teachers. Research papers are written usually from
information easily found on wikipedia, and there just isn't much discussion in classes
these days. That's where Light's Academy is different. Instead of getting on google, and
simply searching information that would be rewritten and turned into a boring paper,
we went on a trip to the location of our research, Coors Field. We went out and we
actually experienced what we were learning about. We talked to officials for the Colorado Rockies MLB team. We got to ask our questions in person and have them answered upfront, instead of just believing what we find on the internet blindly. We visited a baseball museum
that had many keepsakes and treasures from the history of baseball. We learned even more than we were looking to learn, and we had so much fun doing it. Instead of only getting the answers to the questions that intrigued me, I also go to hear the answers of questions
that were asked by my fellow classmates. I was inspired by what I saw to look at research
in a new way. It can be so fun! The way I learned best was by hearing and seeing the
answers for myself! Sitting in front of a computer all day can get tiring, and can be counter
productive with all of the social medias we have these days! I got most of my answers by
doing research on topics that related to my questions, instead of just searching my
questions. I also felt more educated on the subject as a whole!
