What is it like to travel on a MLB team?
I found this topic to be very interesting. Many people think that when teams play away,
it's miserable and it can affect their playing, which is another reason people believe home
teams have an advantage. However, I found that it was quite the opposite. MLB players
live very luxurious lives on the road. Most teams travel exclusively by charter. They lease
private jets for the seasons and stay in amazing hotels. Even though their hotel
accommodations are above and beyond, teams usually spend most of their time in
the clubhouse at the fields, mainly for the privacy it gives them. Staying in the clubhouse
also surrounds the players with other friends and things to do with all the free time. After
9/11, team travel became a lot harder though, because of the new safety guidelines. After,
many teams bought their own jets, and 'tricked them out'. Players are usually fed meals
from their favorite restaurants while in flight and all of the flight attendants are hand picked. Doesn't sounds like a bad deal to me.
